The Office of Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky is seeking highly motivated and dedicated interns at the college level to join our District Office team for the Spring and/or Summer semesters. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contributing to meaningful work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering and screening calls, directing them to the appropriate staff members.
- Greet visitors to the District Office, including constituent drop-ins, appointments, and receiving and signing off on mail deliveries.
- Assisting with light constituent casework, which may include data entry, filing, and organizing documents.
- Maintaining office inventory, organization, and tidiness.
- Taking on special projects, including community outreach initiatives and supporting our policy team.
- And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including showing a strong sense of empathy, diplomacy, and tact.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to concisely relay important information to staff.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic office software (e.g.,Google Workspace).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in public service and community engagement.
- A "can-do" attitude and willingness to jump into any role or task.
Ideal Qualifications Include:
- Experience working in some sort of civic organization, government office, or non-profit organization.
- Bilingual capabilities (Spanish, Persian, Hebrew, or Korean).
- A self-starter with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively address tasks.
