The Office of Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky is seeking highly motivated and dedicated interns at the college level to join our District Office team for the Spring and/or Summer semesters. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contributing to meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering and screening calls, directing them to the appropriate staff members.
  • Greet visitors to the District Office, including constituent drop-ins, appointments, and receiving and signing off on mail deliveries.
  • Assisting with light constituent casework, which may include data entry, filing, and organizing documents.
  • Maintaining office inventory, organization, and tidiness.
  • Taking on special projects, including community outreach initiatives and supporting our policy team.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including showing a strong sense of empathy, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to concisely relay important information to staff.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g.,Google Workspace).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in public service and community engagement.
  • A "can-do" attitude and willingness to jump into any role or task.

Ideal Qualifications Include:

  • Experience working in some sort of civic organization, government office, or non-profit organization.
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish, Persian, Hebrew, or Korean).
  • A self-starter with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively address tasks.
